Epilepsy and autism treatment
A study suggests that several non-traditional treatments, such as special diets - ketogenic, Atkins, and gluten-free, casein-free diets, in particular - are worth further investigation as supportive treatments for managing the health of people with autism who suffer from seizures.
ADHD or seizure?
With 96 % accuracy you can discern ADHD behaviour from absence seizures. When you touch a child with an absence seizure there is no response. Furthermore the eyes look glassy and sometimes the child fidgets during the seizure. A child with ADHD will respond to touch and it does not fidget while staring.
Breastfeed your baby
A Danish study of 69,750 singletons showed an increased protection against childhood epilepsy in breastfed children. The longer breastfeeding the better protection. When breastfed from 3 to 5 months a 26 % decrease were seen. In babies breastfed longer than 13 months a 59 % lower risk resulted. This is the first study of the subject.
